Exclamation A/C Dilemma

So I went to my mechanic today to "boost up" my A/C since it wasn't just cold anymore. Everything seems fine but the right (passenger) side is warm while the driver's side is cold.
I wonder whether it's just a simple flaps issue ? any DIY ?

Does your E39 have the dual climate controls? If so, is one of the sensors blocked? If not, has the sensor gone bad?

It does have the dual controls, do you think that might be the cause ?

I had a leak in the return line in my A/C. It failed slowly, over a couple months. It just got progressively weaker, then eventually the passenger side started blowing warm air while the drivers side still blew cool air. Finally, both sides started blowing warm.

Would a leak cause such a thing ?
