Remember how the e30 looked back then? It's sleeper feel got the best of the rest of the tuning world. This m3 also has that effect for me. It may not be "muscular" like an e46. But a blown e46 goes head to head with a vishnu tuned chip on a 335i coupe. So there's no point of that "muscle" anymore. This m3's engine is a v8 pushing 420 HORSES!!! and can go 0-60 in 4.2 secs. That's a no brainer. Will I get an m3? uhhhh....DUH! You also know aftermarket peeps will take care of the aesthetics of the car for those so into making a car "look fast."

From the A post back to the rear of the car on a side view it just looks like a Hyundai coupe. The E46 is a much better looking and this new 3er just dont look like a BMW should. It looks like a Jap coupe, I wont be getting one....not even with V8 power.

Saw a new M3 at German gas station in June on ED trip
As we were gassing up our 335i coupe in Germany on a recent trip following European Delivery this June, we saw a similar looking car at the pump ahead of us but noticed that the BMW badge was covered with tape and other badging was missing or obliterated. Right after we noticed it, the car pulled out with several guys in it -- apparently part of a road test group. At that point we saw the side body detail, etc and realized it was an M3 "undercover."
It was a "dang, should have taken a closer look" moment. |

To me, it's a different car from each angle...I like each one, and this is coming from someone who really doesn't like the way BMW has styled their vehicles in the past couple of years.

Why does everybody have to get an attitude about these cars, anyways? Immitation is admiration and aspiration. From that, it pushes the M badges (as well as others) to set the bar even higher. Sheesh, at the price things are going anyways, I'm thinking more I35 or G37 for pure fun, especially for the price. |

Definitely going back to a 2-Door after school. CPO 6-Series, M3, or the 335ci. Depends on the job, bu with the performance of a V-8 I am looking at the M3.

It's funny to see everyone comparing the new M3 to the Infiniti M-Series. Ummmm......cart before the horse fellas. Who do you think Infiniti drew the most inspiration from for the M-Series to begin with?
Just like Honda and Lexus and Pontiac, and even the Jeep Compass' rear for crying out loud, and whomever else taking from Bangle and other BMW styling concepts. BMW = First, Last, and Always

Could it look more Japanese? BMW needs to get back to the look that distinguished them from the rest of the world.

BMW may never make the kind of cars I want to own ever again. Yes they MAY make cars that go on to be popular and good sellers, incredible performers, etc.... But will they appeal to ME? Doubtful....
Looks like I'll probably stop somewhere around the E46. My wife loves me almost as much as her E39.

Unfortunately, it followed the same trends as all of the new BMWs. They all look like a Hyundai. What happened to the days when you could recognize a BMW at a glance? Now they all look the same as any other low-grade car out there.
It's a real shame...

New M3
imho - weird styling. Gotta get used to it - will take a day or so... Maybe i'm too used to see a 'bumper' on the front of a car. The front 'looks' weak at 1st - pure plastic, although aerodynamically better..! Rear looks like most cars these days - hard to see what it is. Side view is the best so far. Using a different (brighter) color might change everything..! Still can't figure why people like the graphite color. It hides the car's styling. My E36 ///M still looks better overall..! Good luck trying to top that..! 8?> |
