Steel sunroof vs CF??

It was a general arguement for people picking options on the E46 M3 that you will have a harder time and will get less money on resale if you get one without a sunroof. Now that the E92 M3 has a huge penalty when getting the sunroof, what do you think that will do to the number of cars without sunroofs? I would bet that the number of non sunroof E46 M3s was at most 5%. I would also bet that the sunroof option will probably also be the more expensive option even though it probably is cheaper to produce.

I do...I am curious.

I am not getting a moonroof if I buy the M3. It saves me money, greater structure integrity. Of course I can save the resale buyer some $$ too because I didn't have to pay for the moonroof in the first place.

I'd get a Moonroof.

I enjoy having one now, and enjoyed my sunroofs in my previous cars.

i wouldnt get it. more weight and you lose the cf roof!

First of all, the sunroof is a no cost option on the German and South African websites, so I would expect the same in the US. Personally, I love sunroofs, but will probably be driven by the uniqueness of the CF roof to forgo that option. I would expect a great number of M3 owners are not so technically obsessive and will opt for the hole in the overhead.

Around 10%. Most E46 M3's were option loaded.

Even though the M3 is the de facto performance machine....
You have to remember that a huge % of sales volume ends up in the hands of posers.
I think a huge % of those will still opt for a sunroof

Yep, if there is any reason I move to the M3 over an M Coupe it will be for the iDrive, iPod Adapter (better one), and a Sun Roof.

I also enjoy the performance, but hey, the sun is sweet on the way home from work shining in my face!
