Arrow June 2007 7 Series Sales Report

Sales of the 7 Series this June totaling only 1,053 units were down 26.7% when compared to the total sold of 1,437 sold in June, 2006. YTD sales for the first half of 2007 were also down 20.8%.

Sales of the Mercedes-Benz S Class this June totaled 1,701 units which was a 29.3% decrease from the 2,407 units sold last June. YTD sales of the S Class for the first 6 months of 2007 were down 19.5% from the same period of 2006.

Note that for the first half of 2007 BMW sold only 7,545 units of the 7 Series while MB sold 12,549 units of the S Class.

The 7 series is approaching build-out, so that would appear to be a logical explanation, but the performance of the S class indicates a broader, market-based problem. Question is, what are all those 7 series and S class buyers buying?
