Hello anyone. I just bought a 1992 535I(M). Dark Grey mettalic with black leather interier. iF ANYONE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT IT, HERE i AM. Thanks.

No such thing as an M version of a 92 535. Somebody must have stuck an M emblem on it. The only M 5 series cars that are not M5s are the E12s and E28s.

They did a good job
It has the complete suspension, body stiffners and the intake on the engine says M series. It has the entire body kit, mirrors and rims as well. So I guess someone really wanted a 92 M series.
Regardless, I love the car. It handles like it is on rails. The only other Bimmer I have to compare with is my 1988 530I. This 535 is 1000 times the car my 530 is. The difference from a 3.0 engine and a 3.7 is incredible. I took it on the autobahn last night and was doing 260ks. The speedometer might be off because of the 17's but it was by far the fastest I have ever driven. I had a 2004 Vette and it did not have the top end this car has. My vette topped out at 138. This car just keeps going! Thanks for the info, but I am still gonna love this I guess fake M series. |

BMW has done a number of appearance packages that included M emblems on non M cars (the ones I can think of off the top of my head are Z3s and some E36s- particularly the cabrios). I would guess that a previous owner of your car added them on. Doesn't mean it is not a good car, just not an M car. A good litmus test is to look at the VIN- if it starts WBS then it is an m car, if it starts with WBA it is not.

Germany has their own rules!
Every trip make to Germany I see stuff you don't see here. It's quite possible that it is a M535i since I knew the President of a very large German coffee company had one. It was buil in the secret M shoppe north of Munich (which I visited) and saw my M-6 being built. At the time Mr. Herbert Lorber was in charge and he showed me lots of "M"s leaving for other countries without the "M" since insurance and taxes; plus the customers own stealth desires led to that. I now wish that I had done this with my '85 M-6 since back then the paperwork, federalization work, and customs really set me back in $ and patience.But then again, just driving it...made it all worthwhile! |

I took my car to the BMW dealer in Schweinfurt for servicing. He confirmed that my car is a factory built M series car through the VIN and documentation.
I had it dyno after a complete tuneup and it was pulling 302 bhp. It is a very fast car and I enjoy it very much

similar car in the US, but not a 'real' M car, i.e. vin should start wba on the m540, wbs on the M5.
In the US, it was a 540 sport, M5 suspension, body kit interior, but the standard 540 v8. |

in 1992 there is no such thing as a M535.
on the E34 either you have an M or you dont.. there are lots of M parts but the motor is clearly different. That is what makes it an M. the E34 has various motors.. M14 (518), M20 (520, 525), M30 (530), M50 (newer 520,525) and the M motor the S38. But that is all besides the point.. i am in Germany with you and you are not alone
