Brake Lights not working and (Check Engine light on)

Thanks for all the help in the past. I now require help once again. I have a 1997 BMW 318is (E36) My break lights are not working. I changed the bulbs and still nothing. The turn light works, the reverse light works and the running lights turn on when u turn on your head lights on both sides but when u press the brake peddle no brake light on both sides. I got the bulbs from a autoparts store and still nothing. I checked the fuses up in the engine area and they are all good.

Second issue is my Check engine light, its been on for about 2 weeks but im not sure what the problem is or how to find it. I read alot of posts on here and they is it could be the O2 sensor is that possible?
