Changing Default Sirius Scroll to "On"?
Does anyone know if there's a way to change the default setting of the Inf button on the Sirius radio to Scroll On? I (and most others, from what I've read) seem to prefer this setting On, but it defaults to Off every time you shut off the car. Is there a hidden procedure to change this or are we stuck with having to press and hold buttons every time we listen to Sirius??

I know that in most cases the FCC requires that data cannot "scroll" for safety reasons. When we incorporate RDS or PAD data being transmitted we are not allowed to have the encoder "scroll" the data.
Some may do it but it is technically illegal. Siruis and XM get around this because they dont fall under all the same regulations that terrrestial radio does. This may be a way around it? I'll ask the tech consortium here at work to verify for you.

My wife's 03 Grand Cherokee has continuous scrolling. It would be nice in the X3.
Cheers

Guess I 'll have to rephrase that answer. It may not be the HU that is not scrolling, but the station issuing it.
It is illegal for FCC mandated stations to scroll their data. It must display 8 characters then wait a mimimum or 1 second and display new information. A station not doing this can be cited for violation. Guess who normally reports it? A competiting station. I havent had a chance to ask if satellite is allowed to skirt this one yet.

You Sirius satellite radio subscribers are lucky. We had Sirius included on our rental Ford Mustang for a week in Florida, and frankly I was impressed at the quality. There were a lot of channels but to most of them are just garbage (like CNN).

There are a lot of crooks. We happen to have the FCC in our back yard (Washington DC Area) so everything must be according to law. No wiggle room.

No, the station is scrolling, but the HU doesn't default to SCROLL ON. This is denoted by an asterisk next to the INF indicator on the HU. Every time you shut off the car, it defaults to off. The manual actually has a note stating that it's designed to default to off, but I just figured there'd possibly be a workaround, since BMWs are notorious for undocumented 'features' to be discovered!
