Door Panel Delamination

Has anyone ever found a solution besides going to the dealer to fix the door panel delamination?

EPOXY! my friend. If you're refering to the plastic pieces that are attached to the door panel, epoxy works great. just make sure you clean the old glue off or it wont stick. also if you can , make some sandbags out of large ziploc bags to keep everthing in place while the glue sets. And use something like a 15 or 30 min. epoxy.

True, but that requires pulling the material off and disassembling a bit, no?

If you're talking about the panel just sagging and coming off of the door, the post from Pirate will help you.
If you're talking about the vinyl coming off of the panel itself, I might be able to help once I finish my own repair and DIY (yes, it's still coming along - takes a while).

my vinyl is coming off right now and it seems to be getting a lot worse everyday because of the 100+ weather here in GA. would epoxy be able to fix that?

I'd use Gorilla glue.
Epoxy holds amazingly, but it's really tough to get right and it's extremely rigid.

for the vinyl?

For the vinyl contact cement works great. The only problem I had with the vinyl was that it had shrunk along with coming off and it makes it hard to get it to stay in place in areas like the door pockets,where it has to rap around the edge of the cardboard panel. Just make sure you clean it really well with acetone and let it dry completely before gluing.

This is how I'm doing it:
I have to heat it as I'm having the same shrinking problem mentioned above by greenbeem, so I'm using a hair dryer on high heat. Once it's hot, I stretch it. Then, while holding it stretched and taught, I drip Gorilla glue (not too much! the glue expands!) down where the vinyl will contact the panel, then fold it over and clamp it using ratchet-type clamps.

Heh, just picked up a set of yellow versions of those!

The small ones are EXTREMELY handy for a brake pad job

I need to do my pads soon...

This door thing is killer. It's not so hard as it is tedious and irritating, which is why it's taking so long for me.
