Eye candy under the hood...

I acquired the hood liner out of DannO's '99 track coupe because I wanted one with the BMW roundel embossed on it. (My '00 has just a plain hood liner, no roundel.) The liner cleaned up pretty nicely despite coming out of a salvage car. Not willing to leave well enough alone (it is a spare after all) I decided to embellish it a bit. Not bad considering it was painted entirely freehand and the surface texture is pretty fuzzy!

Looks great! I considered this on my 99 but the "fuzz" surface looked too porous. What kind of paint did you use??
Of course you'll have to tell us paint type, where to buy etc etc

I just used Painter's Touch, a line of indoor/outdoor craft paints by Rustoleum that I bought at Home Depot. Their Brilliant Blue is a ringer for the roundel blue. Dunno how it'll hold up but I can always put the old liner back on!

That's a '00 track coupe. Ahem.

I thought only the 99's had that kind of liner. Of course I knew you had an '00 but was obviously in denial.

That's very possible - I don't know. If true I'm not suprised the liner is from a different model year - the car is a salvage reconstruction... it has z3 headlights and taillights, etc. Something of a mongrel. All the important parts are right, though.

My '00 coupe had one. Had it in the living room while doing some mods and my Cat destroyed it.

My 00 M Coupe had a plain liner but my 99 2.8 has the logo. Looks like another weekend project, as long as I don't have to shovel snow again.

Was that cat in the LeatherZ scene a couple years ago? I remember when I got my first armrest for my Roadster, my dog was very interested in the box.
