E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

Alright, so my girlfriend bought me a new radio for my birthday to replace my stock, me and a friend installed it, long story short; one of the wire caps popped off the back and grounded somewhere, melting a few of the other wires connected.
![]() Ever since then my two rear side marker lights / license plate lights / gauge lights are dead. All of the bulbs are good, and I have no blown fuses. The gauge lights probably have something to do with my broken headlight switch. I'm mainly just worried about getting the side markers and license plate lights working for inspection purposes. Any ideas/opinions very appreciated. |

I fixed the problem with my lights, just wanted to post the update for anyone in the future with the same problem:
The marker/License plate/Gauge lights are all on the same circuit it seems. I ran a hot wire from the trunk light to the license plate light which wasn't receiving any power, and viola; the markers/lplate/gauges light up fine. Obviously I killed the power wire to the rear installing the radio, but I rewired everything and now I have a great sound system with the new radio installed and all is well!
