E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

Angry BMW 318i insufficient charge indicator

Hi, I am a new member of this forum. Have been driving a Eurospec 318i for past 10 months. Purchased for $900 and put over $2000 into it. Currently the relatively new BMW battery is indicating that I have insufficient charge (the battery was completely dead before I jump started it). THe car is showing 143,000 KM, I have not had the timing belt replaced but the timing cam failed and I replaced that, along with the battery. This car is costing more than my UK spec 1982 525i, which I find amazing. Whatever help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

What he said. You could also check the battery voltage at the battery with an ohm meter.

after you have the car started check the voltage at the battery. with the car running it should be around 13.5 to 14.5 volts.

also check all the belts, i know it sounds stupid but alot of people (including me) overlook the belts thinking it might be a more serious problem.

the timing will have no affect on the battery. but if the battery dies say it runs in the evening, but is dead in the morning, you have something on or you have a major power draw.
