Question 2008 x5 3.0 pricing

Can someone give me guidance? I'm looking to purchase a 2008 x5 3.0 with prem. pack., tech., 3rd row, cold weather, ipod, rear climate and have been quoted 53,685 on an msrp of 56,225. Is that good? Can I do better? I'm in NJ. Any suggestions where to go? I have been told by several dealers that built into invoice is a dealer prep fee of around 600? Is that legit? Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to finalize before the end of the year.

Go to www.cars.com and use their invoice pricing. Its pretty close. And no, $600 is prob not legit. BMW NA charges dealers a $180 training/service fee. Your NJ dealers may have an advertising coop that is additional as well...

Shop around multiple dealers and tell each the lowest offer you've gotten. I got $3625 off MSRP this way among 4 dealers. You can probably do better if you persist and show them you'll buy right away.

When I put my deposit down, the only other fees added were a $45 "optional dealer fee for processing application for registration" (no big deal to me), a $10 NY State inspection fee, and a $10 NYS required tire recycling fee. Everything else such as advertising and destination fees were in the negotiated price. You'll also have to take care of DMV fees upon delivery.
