$50.65 to fill the tank. 14.1 MPG... with the 3.0!

My wife drives exclusively in the "city" in her daily commute. I just took her X5 to the store and to get gas. Her MPG on the tank was a mere 14.1 MPG (for comparison, my Passat just got 26.3 and my 930 13.9).

Oh, gas was $2.349 per gallon. Ouch!

On my 3.0i, I find that it really depends on how you drive it. Worst thing to kill you're gas mileage is to rip away from a stand-still after stopping. And I find the 3.0i pulls away fairly nicely from a stop and it's easy to kill your tank this way. It's easy to drive the thing aggressively. On the hwy I was getting 25 mpg and 18 in the city. The hwy driving I was not light footed either, but city driving I was trying to take it easy to see what happens. Stop and go is a killer on this heavy SAV.

Well, at least the X5 weighs much more than the Porsche. What's the 911's excuse?

Sorry to hear that, but there may be a light at the end of the tunnel with the higherER gas prices. Hang in there.

On my 3er, I do a lot of city driving and I am averaging just a hair over 20 mpg. I am fairly assertive pulling away from a stoplight, but I wouldn't say that I am aggressive about it.
