Thumbs up Xenon and V1 install today

Al Corey and I installed the LeatherZ Xenon kit today in my 2001 M Roadster. To be accurate, Al did ALL of the work and I ineptly assisted him as was required.

The Xenon install only took 90 minutes, as Al had done it before to his own '01 M and knew what we were in store for. The washer tank needs to be removed and the ballast actually mounts back onto it after re-installation of the tank. Installing the bulb on the driver's side was really difficult, as the air box is in the way. Someone with large hands should probably remove this box to get in there. Al was able to get around it.

The picture here shows the difference between the two lights, as we did the passenger side first and then photographed them. I have not driven at night yet, but will tonight. If the difference projected on the garage wall is any indication, I'm going to love them.

We (again Al) also installed the VI using a hardwire to the ignition. This was pretty simple with some help via e-mail from Ron Stygar. All in all, everything went very well and I'm getting closer to being comfortable to drive to Z3 Fest in a few weeks.

A huge thank you to Al Corey for doing this work.

Re: Xenon and V1 install today

So you went ahead with the velcro? I have the kit and was wondering how sturdy that would be.

I have had my HID kit in for over one year (same as leatherz) and used the velcro to mount. Many, many miles later its still on tight as can be.
