et's talk... Puros.

Just received a recent order and now fully stocked (for now).

I like to order up a couple dozen of the same brand but different type/flavor and then try another brand. This time around the weapon of choice:

GURKHA

in a variety of styles. But I like to keep on hand some tried & trues: CAO, Arturo Fuente, Romeo & Julieta.

By the way this is my second box of the CAO 65th Anniversary Essen and they are simply exquisite to smoke! Super smooth, perfect draw and burn every time. The packaging is beautiful, 10 box-pressed 7"x54 ring. Each cigar comes in a gold aluminum tube.

But if you guys haven't tried the multitude of Gurkha varieties out there do yourself a favor soon! My personal fave, The Legend.







One of my special smokes... Given to me 2yrs ago for the birth of my first son. A special smoke indeed: Partagas Limited Reserve Decadas 1995 No. II It's been resting up for a total of 12yrs! I believe I will bust it out next month when my new son is born.

The first thing I will say is do NOT get caught up in the whole "Cubans are the best" bs. At one point years ago... but not today. When the trade embargo set in with Cuba the growers and producers knew how large of a market the US was and is and all they did was took their seeds and techniques to neighboring countries to grow, make and sale their product. In fact Dominican Republic and Nicaragua produce some of the finest cigars in the world.

And also, yeah, usually a $20 stick is gonna be better than a $2 one, but there are GREAT smokes in the $2-10 range!

nice humidor, I have a pretty basic one, used to be well stocked but I think it needs a little attention as of recent. I usually only smoke them in the summer when it's nice outside, looking forward to my cigar weather here shortly!

For a cheap thrill for some reason I have been enjoying Black and Mild "wine" flavor. haha, I know it's ghetto fab but they are actually tasty sometimes.

Thanks.. I will look into this a little more.. I am actually from the Dominican Republic and was there a couple of months back.. I went into a palce and got a few of them. The guy there was telling me that the ones from there are very good. I am very interested in reading more about cigars..

I went to Iwan Ries with a friend of the family as a kid,

I was smoking Macanudos in HS,

when I went to the CBOT my Mom's friend took over Jack Schwartz cigar importers, and his store was next to the CBOT, and then later in the CBOT. He really showed me how to underdstand the qualities, like wine. As you said, anyone can get a smoke for $20, someone with a good nose can find the same tobacco in a $4 stogie, he showed me how.

You should try pipes. It's less time, less invassive to the palate as well.

I know it seems gay (did Huge Hefner give you that pipe) but I like it.

^^^ Hahaha... Actually I've tried pipe tobacco and a pipe (fantastic flavors and aroma!) I guess I don't like the whole carrying it around and holding it etc. But it's all good.

I'm a cigar fan, and actually manage a cigar store as a second job. The CAO's are a solid brand, however for most of my smoking I turn to Ashton or Padron. Is that an IDC humidor? I managed to poach a Padron Millennium humidor for myself, but I've gotten lazy and just store my cigars at the store.

As someone previously mentioned, Cuban doesn't mean a good cigar, it's mainly a "forbidden fruit" mentality these days.

Cigar I'm waiting to see making it's rounds again is the Punch Rare Carojo.

P.S. to OP, I see a few Fuente Canones in there, those are a serious time investment. I'm a fan of coronas and lonsdales

EDIT: I just noticed the Puros part, guess the Padrons qualify.

Question for you.

I also have a humiditor like the one pictured by the OP. I ran across a few "experts" and every one of them tells me that is actually not a good idea to store the cigars in a humiditor that has glass panes. They say that the light from the room will actually damage the cigars. Their take is when buying a humiditor, always select the ones that are fully enclosed (no glass).

Is there any truth to this?

Yeah no doubt. There are easily a 4 hour smoke. And I usually can only go say 3 if at a bar with friends with a table... dance.
