im not sure if this will help, but in my 3 series covertible, i had an in dash tv/dvd player installed. when it was installed, they had to connect a wire from the unit to the parking brake. that way, it would ground it and the dvd player would know when the parking brake was on so it would play. i disconnected that, connected it to an on/off switch ($3 from auto parts store) and i can trick the player into thinking the parking brake is on. im guessing that its not any sort of software fix and you need to apply this same concept to it.
funny thing is that the stereo shop told me that they can bypass the parking brake function with a $45 module. i just used that on/off switch and did it myself. i hate when people try to take advantage of you.

yea completly different. you dont need a switch you just put the ground and parking brake wire together.

i only put the switch on just in case i got pulled over. i had it tucked away but still easily accessible. my friend got screwed when he got pulled over with his. so i figured if a cop tried to say i had a dvd playing, id switch it to off and say "sorry officer, it wont play."

When I've washed it, it has got 40 hp more!!! It's more aerodynamic as well, since the dirt on the car isn't holding it back. so, it will give you a huge advantage over other 745i's.

Not sure if this has been covered, If you hold down on the odometer reset, you get some kind of diagnostic check.

I dropped my comfor access fob yesterday and some combo of buttons were pused that lit up the headlights, door lights and interior lights. It was nice to walk up to the car like that. I cannot figure out how I did it, but would like to figure it out. Anybody know how to do this?

^^^^I believe to switching on the interior lamps and outside lights you need to press the panic button briefly.

Would be a good feature if you could temporally put on the headlights for security or to help locate the car from the key

But it only holds like 4 quarters. I find the bottom drawer above the CD player the best for change.

this is not entirely true... Older navigation and tv systems worked like you mentioned, however alpine had an advanced system that required you to hold the brake, and press/depress the parking brake so the system knew the wire wasnt completely grounded... Thats what the modules were, the relays would detect power and then actuate the brake bypass sequence automatically... Most newer systems nowadays work this way, and navi based systems use the gyro sensor to detect if the car is moving while playing video... That too can be disabled, but requires solder joints on the main board...

the grounded parking brake worked about 5 years ago and thats the last time i had a aftermarket tv/navi in my car

yes, the older systems worked that way until people started getting in accidents and the manufacturer was held liable...
