Noise from engine - help!

There is a strange noise coming from the front of my car...

When my girlfriend started it today it started to make a loud noise like "streatching" and continued to do this until she got to a repair shop. She said it didnt sound like the alternator or belts sound when they are having problems. She said it gets louder as RPMs increase, but still loud when the car is still. The guy at the shop said it might be a starter problem - like the ignition continues to fire when the car is on? She said when they poped the hood at the shop the sound came fromt he back of the engine bay - towards the windshield. They havent had time to look at it yet. I wish I was there! My girlfriend knows nothing!

Maybe a wet belt?

Try the crankcase breather valve. Mine did this. Pull the hose off the valve cover and see if the engine runs normal. Plug the hose as well.

Sounds like your water pump is rooted.
