Yes JP, it's coming with the facelift. Also they are ceasing the production of 4.6is and replacing it with a 400hp+ version.

Did you see other German news to this effect?

----

According to a german newspaper (autozeitung) the 2004 X5 will get the 4.5i engine from the BMW 745i and the X5 4.6i will be discontinued. In 2005 a 400+ hp engine will be introduced for the X5. 3.0d will get a boost in hp, but no word on a 3.6i engine or a change for the 3.0i X5. This will obviously be accompanied by the facelift and a new awd with dynamic torque management.

----

Sweet--- the order will go in if it is true!

Just have to decide on Silver or Black. Black is fantastic but I never wash my cars.

Silver is fantastic, but I already have a silver 323i. 2 Silvers sounds a bit wierd.

MMMmmmmm... Blllack!

Minor detail, but the new engine is still a 4.4L, not 4.5.

Since there is no shortform for "4.4Valvetronic" and that's a bit much to write, I used the 4.5L shortform the way BMW would.

I wonder if they actually will call the X5 4.4L w/Valvetronic an X5 4.5L. I bet they will! After all, they didn't call the E65 "744i".

I drive a "323i".

It'll probably become the X5 4.5i and if they ever replace the 3.0 with the 3.6, it'll become the X5 3.5i. Can't go an keep the same name, or else the image buyers won't come in and get new ones!

That would be a step forward. Afterall, Ford always called their 302 cu in V8s 5.0L even though they were actually 4.9L.
