BAVAuto Sunroof wind deflector...

Bought the BAVAuto sunroof deflector and decided to install it tonight. Turned out I was only going to TRY and install it. I dont think I have the right clips to hook it under the sunroof lip.

The one is taller than the other and a small hook. The other is shorter with a larger hook. I'm pretty sure a tall one with large hook is the right combo.

Anyone due this before? Help?

I'll take pictures tomorrow when I'm less frustrated. It was a long mentally exhausting day at work. I'm sure when I look at it when I'm rested I'll see what I was missing before.

Why in the world would you want to buy a deflector? IMO the X 3 has the best built in deflector on the market. When I open the sun roof to any position and I say any position you never get a down draft. There are quite a few times during the cold weather I open the sun roof with the heater on and never feel a draft. All of the other BMW's I've owned always got a draft with the roof open but not the X 3. Good luck with your instlation but IMO I think its for naught and it doesn't look very good.
cheers

Its the wife's car and she complains of the glass tapping against each other at highway speeds when the roof is all the way open. We also get wind noise when the roof is all the way closed.

I wanted to give this a shot before mentioning either problem to the dealer. We have about 48,500miles on it and working on a list to take with us to the dealer for the last pre-50,000mi service.

Sounds to me like its a problem for the dealer to fix. No such things are happening on my X 3. Good luck.
cheers

Agreed. I would not try a bandaid fix for something the dealer should be able to take care of under warranty. I also agree on the wind deflector not looking good on the X3 (or any deflectors on any car for that matter).

But if you still intend to install it, Bavarian Autosport usually is very helpful with installation issues so give them a call and see what they tell you about the different sized clips.

I'll put it on the list for the dealer to look into.

My reasoning is that a BMW Tech at the dealership is no where near as competent as the original installer. I am fearful of a screwed up installation on a new sunroof.
