Brake Measurement Question (mm)
As I left the dealership today with the paperwork from another of my sooner-than-advised oil changes (yes, I'm one of those folks who isn't sure yet whether I might keep the leased X3 when the lease is up, so I do it for my own peace of mind even if I could get the same peace of mind by setting Jacksons alight) . . . I noticed the following "note" at the bottom of the service paperwork:
Front brakes: 11mm
Rear brakes: 10mm
Since I'm ignorant as to such things, I wondered if somebody out there with more know-how could explain to me the significance of the above note. Do those #s mean that my brakes are significantly worn . . . or what's the deal? (I mean, I presume they would not put the #s down as a note for no reason.) But the service advisor said absolutely nothing about it.
Information: my 2007 X3 (6 MT) has 11,600 miles on it, I do almost *no* stop-and-go driving, and I really pretty much "baby" it -- a lot of coasting, very reasonable driving, etc. Since I'm averaging 23.2 MPG (and that's at relatively high altitude, about 4,500'), that should give some idea as to how I'm not doing a lot of "city driving" involving a lot of stops.
Any insight/info would be much appreciated. Thanks!
