Dentist drill type whipe/whistle?

Sorry, its supposed to be "whine" not "whipe" (not sure what i did there ha).

It may have only just started doing it or it may have always done it. Thing is I always have the stereo on and have never heard it but I've been changing some speakers etc around and had it off and theres this weird dentist drill type sound.
Happens when driving or stationary. not audible when ticking over but any revs and you can hear it. Gets higher as you rev. Sounds loud from inside the car, sounds like its coming from under the passenger side dash. You can't really hear it with the bonet up outside, might be because the induction kit drowns it out.
Is it safe to drive? or could i be doing damage? and any ideas what it could be?

Many thanks,

if it started while you were playing with speakers, it could be engine whine from them. happens when you cross over the power and signal cables. not feedback as such (feedback requires a mic?), obviously earth is your negative, and the engine is connected to it aswell, being metal. so i suppose you could almost say that the power is fluctuating with your revs? therefore sending that "whine" noise up and down. thats why its reccomended when wiring amps, you put signal down one side of the car, and power down the other. to avoid such problems.
obviously if your not running an amp, and your speakers are naturally run off the HU, then this wouldnt be the problem becasuse the pwoer and signal are the same freaking wire :P
anyway

possibility?

hmm interesting, well the back 6x9s and sub are ran off amps, but the front components are jus run by the HU atm. The noise happens even when the hu is turned off. Is it possible in that scenario? I haven't really got any means of taking a vid I'm afraid. I'll have another look at her today and see if I can find anything out.
Thanks for the replys

Oh, didn't think to mention it but as it may be electrical, theres a buzzing noise from that sort of area for a couple seconds whenever the interior light turns on or off, I've never noticed that before this problem so may be connected? I was pulling around some looms down there a bit when finding the wires that go to the door tweeters (would have been nice if they had coloured them the same behind the glove box as they do in the door!).

The buzzing noise is normal as the interior light dims out, but have to admit, it is a little unnerving when you first hear it isn't it?

So I was messing around with the car today, found out that the noise gets alot louder when you turn on the rear window de-mister, I managed to hear where it was coming from: the passenger side tweeter. Took the glove box out and moved the crossover and the wiring as far away from everything else as I could and it's solved.

Thanks Guys
