you will. If you see some signs on my car "Inland Empire leader" on the front windshield, two rear windows, and rear window, thats my car .

comon the best part about it is the drive. i would love to go drive in the canyons with bunch of bimmers.

So what happened to the Rally? I went up the 101 after the fest and didn't see anyone...probably 2 sets of 2 BMWs.....

I was really looking forward to it.

Saw two groups drive FAST by me and my buddies when we were going back to San Jose.

There were CHP's everywhere.

Looked like a few exited where the rally would have normally exited...so I guess there was a rally or some sort.

Yeah, I saw the CHP'ers everywhere too. I forgot to put my front license plate back on, but they didn't sweat me.

What time did you see people exiting the highway? I left the venue right after the raffle was over. But of course getting out took forever.

/\ I was on the road around 4:30ish. Left the event around 3 and drove around SB and headed back out so I didn't get in the traffic leaving the fairgrounds.

The E21 Legion does our own Rally unofficially and we always have a great time. We had about 40 cars in our rally and stopped in Solvang for a delicious BBQ. I must have seen literally 25 CHP's on bikes. My 323i (driven by another member) was pulled over to check the registration (we were waiting at a stop light) And another was pulled over for taking pictures out the rear of a E30 cabrio. The CHP presence was intense and I almost felt intimidated, as a few times they were following us. We stuck to the speed limit 99% of the time though and they didn't really have anything on us.

They were all over our route but faded out towards Solvang.

FWIW, the CHP presence has more to do with the wine-tasters than it does the Bimmer-festers (that's what their honcho told me anyway)...

Mmmmmm...not sure I believe them. I go wine tasting up there about 3X a year and the only time I've seen 'almost' that many CHPers was for the weekend of Fiesta Days last year.

I think it's just that they got tired of dealing with the few bad apples we've had the last few years...

One of the CHP's walking around at the fest is in the E21 Legion and he told us to watch out because the CHP knew full well about the rally's that take place. And for what it's worth he is an awesome guy, and I can assure you he was not ticketing anyone at the event.

You must be talking about CHPAhoy, a former Bimmerfest attendee...

The good news was that the lieutenant basically said that if the rally was well organized, and the CHP was involved in the planning, that we could revive/restore the official rally.

Yeah CHPAhoy is a great guy and just so nice! Was great seeing him!

I think if CHP was involved, it would cut down on the stupidity, and recklessness of the drive. The "rally" is supposed to be a cruise, to just drive and enjoy the sight of hundreds of BMWs together.

We'll be able to work on this more once we figure out where
Bimmerfest X will be held.
