Cost of repairs

Hey guys I was looking at perhaps buying another 535i I saw for sale, the problems I was worried about is that it most likely will need a new starter, battery and brake lines + fluid. Do you guys know what that will run me? Otherwards seems like a good car perfect body 226k only 500 bucks let me know what you guys think

Thanks so much!

Tyler

A rebuilt starter can be had for $108 plus tax at Autozone (just did this about 2 months ago) but replacing it can be a nightmare due to lack of access to the top bolt. As for the battery it all depends how high you want to go. I've heard of people who bought the sealed optima for close to $200 or just go to WalMart and buy their cheap one. I don't know where you are located but if you got cold winters better get a good one! Now for brake lines, are you referring to the rubber sections or the hard lines? The rubber sections can be replaced with braided stainless steel for about a $100 and will probably be cheaper than buying all of the factory rubber ones at the dealer. If you are talking about hard lines those can be ordered at the dealer but they come straight and you will need to bend them using the proper tools as not to 'kink' them. I don't know the price on these though. If the body is pretty good shape I would get it as mechanical stuff can be slowly repaired to have a reliable daily driver.

Good Luck!
