schulrog everything is possible when you swing your money to a person who wants to make money
but I recommend to get custom tips. You want to use quads not duals!

If you do it right might as well call it custom made body. Same as a custom made body kit, except in a different taste
I will show you mine how it looks I custom cut mine cleanly...I will post pix soon.

I ended up getting Magnaflow #14816. I think BMWTuRk7x has the same ones. Really happy with them. Now that they're on, I with they were staggered too. Either way, I'm really happy with the sound and look.

Also, would I need a 2.25 inlet too? what would be the outlet if i keep the stock tips? what positions would i need? center/offset, offset/offset, offset/offset (same side), center/center? Also would it make sense to get the polished or just the steel one since the muffler won't be visible? lol i know tons of questions ![]() Thx in advance... really appreciate it!

Schulrog
you should be fine. The tips are more of a cosmetic thing, it's your muffler and your resonator that determines the sound level of your exhaust system. Muffler is that box shaped thing that your tips connect to. Going quads over duals there's more air-flow from the mufler which is why quads = more hp gain (Even though hp gain from exhaust system isn't that much) quads = higher sound level as well. I will get that pix I told you about this weekend gatta get me a camera for when I put the rims on this weekend.

people with the Magnaflow #14816, are you just replacing the muffler and tips? not the whole catback pipings correct.
soo your cutting out the old muffler and just welding the new muffler on? no pipes!? |

I'm doing that with the Magnaflow #11366. Mufflers with stock tips and getting a custom x-pipe made to replace the front resonators and will leave the rear resonators in for now.
If anyone is interested in a custom x-pipe, i can see if he can just fabricate an extra one when he does mine next friday.

I need help finding what Magnaflow part number to order for my 2006 650i Im looking for a single tip, drop in replacement (No bumper cutting)
I'm pretty sure it is either: Magnaflow part #11366 (Center/Offset) or Magnaflow part #11235 (Offset/Offset) An then i just need the part number for the single outlet, round tips. (Does tip length matter?) I'm usually pretty good with forum/net research, but this is driving me crazy. I just want the part numbers so i can place the order and get this over with! I even called Magnaflow and the guy was unsure (wanted measurements). I just want to make sure i order the right parts. Thanks again! |

http://www.ebay.com/itm/310481239844...84.m1439.l2649 One more question... What length do i need to get for the tips? They have 7.5" and 4.5" in the "Round Straight Tip". What outer diameter would look best as a drop in replacement for the oval OEM tips? Thanks again! oRIDDLERo EDIT: OK, Figured it out. Any tip with 2.25" inlet works.. The length on the tip to order should be approximately 7.25" - 7.5". The stock oval tips on a 2006 650I are 3"x4" So either round 3" outlets or 3"x4" oval single tips will fit best with no bumper cutting. I went with the Rolled-Oval-Straight, Single Tip Diameter=3in.x3.75in Length=7.25in I.D. Inlet=2.25in Part#35159 I hope this info helps someone else with the same car the search time =] Last edited by oRIDDLERo; 11-15-2012 at 09:18 AM. |
