God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

The work to replace the aux fan is not hard but need more things removed to get to it. Is the aux fan bad? You never stated it was bad. My original died and then got a used one, and it froze after 2 months. So pulling a used one could lead to the same thing. And to do the work all over again would suck. So mayabe your fan is good and its something electrical. I have just gone thru everything to learn the aux fan system. I bought a new Spal 14 and replaced the aux fan. Used stock wiring and even the resister for 2 speed. I have pics on m42club forum under my profile. This fan is suppose to be enough to even cool my engine, so next stop is to remove fan clutch for a week to test it out. If the aux temp switch is working then as temp goes on, aux fan will turn on, if I am not using the AC. I am also in florida so that's why I am being careful. Already rebuilt it due to start of engine overheating.

my ac fan is working i just want another one for lower speed in front of the radiator becuz the ac fan has to go throught the condenser and the radiator before it touches the engine so that is almos no air going in

now I understand, you want to use a bmw aux fan as you electric fan. Good luck getting one and also they are heavy, will add more weight. But unless you add a resistor, the fan will only work in high which might be to much air or it will be very loud, especially if the fan is noisy to start with(since it used).

you can also find a e36 318ti radiator fan which is nicer but not sure how much. I went with Spal, better quality and warranty but it is not needed. Autozone sells cheap ones also.

Those would work, I got my Spal 14" High Performance with curved blades on ebay. Much cheaper than anything local or on internet.
