My first view of an undisguised F01 today

I live near Munich and Chris Bangle lives in my town.

I drove by his house today and guess what I saw...

Unfortunately the car was parked so close to the garage I could not take a decent photo with a rear sight.

The kidneys look rather large for the car.

The car looks goofy as if it came straight out of Pixar production.

The kidney's are just too tall.

I love how the car is completely undisguised, yet the badges are all covered with black tape.

"Omigod...is that the new 7 series??!!"
"Nah...couldn't be. No roundels. Probably the latest De Soto, or maybe an American Harvester."

I like everything about it except the front grill sucks balls. The front grill looks like something from the 70's.

it still does not have the side-mirror/turning light...that is kind of standard in the same class of vehicle.

So some things we like, some we don't. At least I haven't heard it called a bangle disaster yet.

I guess I think its pretty all except those chrome side markers. I think even the Ford fusion has copied those now.

BMW's have turning lights on the side of the car, it doesnt need one in the side mirror... those usually just look bad anyway.

I think it's the sexiest Bimmer yet, even if it does have some similar features as other high end cars. The side turn signals are just fine the way they are, They have put enough lights on the interior.

Absolutely gorgeous car. Very cool. I like the size of the new kidney grilles a lot. The proportions are much better.

I got a close look in the latest Automobile Magazine.
I don't like it. Well, that's too strong. Rather, I'll say that it doesn't look as good as the current model. The Bangle stuff looked great to me right off the bat. Pre-Bangle Bimmers were too plain for the cost imo. The Bangle stuff made them fit more comfortable next to other higher end cars. The new one looks more understated. That doesn't make it bad but it's not nearly as stylish. If people wanted to disappear in their car they should drive a Honda or Toyota.

a car that looks "okay" should be a honda, ford, chevy, toyota, a daewoo for god's sakes but not a BMW! the NEW 7 suxs! (JUST BEING REAL) it shouldnt have to GROW ON YOU, atleast not a BMW or a 7 none the less.

Pics from LA Autoshow. I am alot more partial to it than an SClass or previous 7. There is a alot of improvements over the previous 7, tactile quality is top notch, adding some rounding to edges of the interior panels, dashboard, vents etc and adding extra bezels around all sorts of things adds to the attention to detail and luxury feel and execution. I applaud that the gearshift has moved back to where it belongs, even if it is only a joystick.
I still think an A8 has a more harmonious design, but I dont want to own one.

This is the first 7 I really like. I've never been a fan of the proportions in the previous iterations.
