"Butterfly effect" on 22" wheels?

i was looking at craigslist and found some 22' asanti wheels. i asked the seller what condition the tires are in and he said that they need to be replace cause the inside of them is worn. he said 22's on bmw's are know to butterfly out like that!? is this true and is there anything to do to prevent that from happening. they are 3inch in front and 6inch lip in rear...yay or nay

If you like the wheels then go for it.

BMW's have negative camber especially in the rear wheels (meaning the top of the wheel tilts inward and the bottom tilts out) so the inner edge of the tire will always get more wear. As long as its even and the tires dont look shredded than its normal. Bigger wheels will also amply this effect because of the large tire patch and less thickness in the tire.

Just make sure your alignment is good when you put the new wheels on, especially in the front.

factor in new tires if they need to be replaced, 22's arent as expensive as they used to be....but 21's are..

I agree if you like them go with them.. I for one have had no problems with that..

As for 22" tires being cheap I dont know about that I replaced one rear at $362 so I am not sure if thats cheap....
