1998 740i Issues

This is my first time so be patient. I have a 1998 740i which I cannot get the hood latch to completely close. It is the latch which gets released from the inside. I have sprayed wd40 on the latches but that has not helped. Any suggestions. The 740i has two latches connected to the internal cable running to the latch in the front above the lights.

Second issue. I had my brake fluid light come on due to low fluid just before I replaced the brake pads. While I have installed new pads, filled it with fluid, it will not go out. Can I jump it with a wire or something so the light will go out. I check the fluid regularly anyway.

Any help especially on the latch issue would be a big help.
