The dolts who write these articles are such uniformed noobs, as is most all of the press. Not that some of the things in the article aren't interesting, but the only thing about the key fob that's actually "new" (and even that's not new anymore) is the keyless ignition and it certainly isn't unique to the high likes of BMW. Even the lowly Nissan Versa offers keyless ignition.

Some of those options are just insane. Granite in a Maybach?!? As they say money can buy anything if you have enough of it.

This article is ridiculous and the writer an idiot. Wish there was a place to react to this crap on the site.
Obvioulsy he has even tried the system and doesn't really understand it. The fact of not having to put a key in a slot and opening a door without having to find the key is very practical. There is actually no reason for having to insert a key except legacy. The lowering of the windows, etc. is not really the main point. This feature is completely unrelated to the other luxury items described. In addition, many other car manufacturers, even non luxury, offer this feature. This guy should get out of his cave/NY apartment and actually get a real car instead of surfing on the internet to find crappy news ideas. FM

My Kawasaki Concours 14 has the same system... very handy, though not without its own problems (like dropping a fob out of your jacket pocket while riding... oops!)

The point of owning a BMW - the reason people pay the tariff and put up with the theft risk - is that they're marvelous driving machines. Plenty of vehicles offer high-quality transportation and driving pleasure for less money, but they don't feel like a BMW. |
