Thinking of getting an 00-03 X5, Suggestions?

I recently came out of an E39 and i loved it. I am no considering three cars. Either another E39, an E46 vert, or an X5.

The ones i have been looking at are 00-03 with 9x,xxx on the clock in the 10-13k price range.

I posted something in General BMW but i am not getting much feed back.

Who best to ask then actual owners? That being said, what are some pros and cons with the X5? At around that milage what should i be expecting? Hows the reliablity on them and so on?

BTW: I think i am leaning more towards the X5.
TIA

Mein Auto: BMW 2002 X5 3.0
I bought mine 5 weeks ago with 82,500 miles. X5 3.oi 2002.

Except for a few minor things that showed up in the first week this car is like brand new and has the manners of a sports car it is so much fun to drive.

The dya after I bought it the notorious CVV froze up when it went down to zero degrees. Apparently these things get all gunked up with years of condensation and the CVV lines freeze in severe temps. The dealer took care of it and I'm happy. I would have that serviced before you take posession then you are good for a few years.

I changed all the fluids so I have a base line to start again no biggie.

I love this car and am going to run it to 300,000 miles. Happy Motoring.

Do a search ...

I have an 01, bought new, 80,xxx miles.

Tail lights are crap; CV boots rip; swap bar links clonk; water pump/thermostat/exp tank need replacement; window regulators explode, intake boot rips... typical BMW issues if you have an E39.

I love my x5 aka J.U.L.I.E shes something else. Brought her for my bday in 07 with 54k. Drives like a dream, but expensive as hell to keep up with. So far I had to replace both axels soooo my fault, the pulley and now the calipers. Just make sure to get a third party warranty, you'll definetely need one, because I doubt if BMW will cover a car of that yr.

But I dont regret a thing. Enjoy your new purchase.
