I can promise you one thing for sure...It will NOT drive anything close to a BMW X6. You can write that in STONE!!!

My head rubs on the roof when I sit in the back seat of an X6.

Weird
I'm 6-foot tall and still had some space left in the rear seat ![]() BTW, my friend is 6'1 and fits perfectly in my 335i coupe in the rear seat I wouldnt think X6 has less height than my car

![]() Some folks with big hair would hit the ceiling on a 3/5/6 series too even if they are less than 6ft tall. I am 5'11 and fit in the X6 rear fine without the head rubbing. It is funny how people are concerned with headroom yet they are happy with a 3 series in which the width is very tight and uncomfortable. Crossovers have a lower roof line. That is why they are called cross overs. If folks don't like a cross over they can get a regular SUV. Someone stating they have an issue with headroom in a crossover is like saying "I don't like motorcycles because of the wind noise."

Acura's new vehicle will likely carry a big ugly plenum grille (see TL). I think the vehicle will probably perform quite well with its SHAWD (the MDX matches the X5 quite well).
If you can get past the grille, this is a good/cheaper/more reliable alternative to X6.

I have only seen one X6 off a dealer lot since they were introduced. This is in the SF/San Jose Bay Area of CA. I still have a problem with the X6 looks, it reminds me too much of that old AM Eagle. I am sure that those that have them find them attractive and are happy with their purchase. I suspect that Acura's version will be very reliable and probably perform well, but it still doesn't look any better to me. I have my nomex suit on so let the flames begin!

Here are some better pics.
I think it looks more like the 5 series crossover. Anyone know if it is car or truck based? They are calling it a sport wagon so I bet it is based on the Honda Accord/TL and front or AWD complete with Hondamatic drive. At any rate I am sure folks will complain about the head room.

Better pix, looks like they are following the "trend" toward coupe/sedans with the flowing lines like the Benz, VW CC, and the new Toyota. I suspect we will be seeing more of these. I do like the lines of the Mercedes and VW (not as "Eagle-like") but there is a headroom problem in all these for the back seaters IMHO, big hair or no. My biggest concern is the high beltline and smaller greenhouse that makes it kind of claustrophobic a la the FX. I like to see out with large windows all around.

And here we go again with Volvos version. This must be the new concept for everyone. BMW copycats

I don't think they are copying BMW, more like M-B and VW. The "atomic cockroach" look of the old AM Eagle is not there IMHO. Actually it looks more like a 1950's Hudson Hornet to me. The first high beltline, low greenhouse, recently was the FX I believe.

I think the actual concept is very different from the rendering. The tail is very different already. Let's see.

I drove Acura's for more than a decade. Sold my wife and her family on Acura's.
New Acuras are AWFUL. Started with the new MDX, continued with the deballsing of the TSX, and now the RL and TL. The person that runs their design shop needs to be canned. Fugly. |

Car looks pretty good in various angles. The front is still a bit ugly, but better than the Acura sedans.
