Apparently, however, BMW believed the market did want it.

Really? How much did you give?

The new Z4 35 costs about the same as the 335 (also with a hardtop) and about $10k more than a 135 with a softtop. Doesn't seem that unreasonable to me. Also, unlike the old Z4, its made in Germany so BMW probably needs to price it higher to cover the still awful exchange rate.

The price may make the 135 more interesting to some people though.

sorry...I can't seem to type today...I think the prices have blinded me a bit, sorry for the typo in subj line

well sandy, when you get two months away from your lease being up just give your favorite BMW Client Advisor a call. i will help you buy your ///M off lease if thats the way you want to go.

In the era of cheap leases, this pricing must have seemed reasonable, but to have the base price at high as it is seems crazy. And then there's the absurdly high priced options. e.g. $750 for PDC doesn't add much to the monthly payment on a lease, but when you consider real cash it makes you think twice about just looking in the rear view mirror!

Of course, may be they don't want to sell as many as they used to. The glut of lease returns with lower than anticipated residuals hurts the margins on used vehicles and makes the new cars look too expensive. High pricing is one way to achieve that...

That's the price of PDC on every other BMW, so no big deal.
