stock stereo '09 328 vs 335

My CA claims that although Logic 7 is no longer standard on the 335, the stock system is upgraded from the stock system on the 328. Can anyone conform this? I was driving an 08 328 loaner up till Friday when I picked up my new 09 335 (stock stereo). While it does sound a little better, it could be my imagination.

The base system has essentially not changed since its introduction in 2006. The base system on the 335i is the same as on the 328i for 2009.

If your loaner had leatherette seats and your '09 335 has leather, that could easily account for the sound difference. The different materials have different sound absorption/reflection characteristics. Coupe vs. sedan will also sound a little different to the discerning ear.

In the US, we have TWO sound systems on the non-M 3er. The "standard" system is a Hi-fi system, the "upgrade" is the Logic7. We also get the BMW Professional CD headunit as a standard upgrade on all models.

In Europe, there is a lower standard sound system that does not have subwoofers. The standard headunit is the BMW Business CD. One can also order the Individual sound system (2160 I believe) as the top-end.

Sorry for bumping up an old post, but do you guys have the specs on the std sound system for the canadian 335i? I'm kinda regretting the fact that I did not upgrade the sound system to the Logic 7, but I heard that the standard 10 speaker hi-fi system is just as good.

Canada is a bit different as there are 3 revisions of the sound system. You have the Standard system, the harman/kardon Logic7 system and the Audiophile system (BMW Individual Audio) which is available on the 335. You'd have to order the Audiophile package on your 2009 to get that system.

edit: See post #8, there's a 4th system that is only available on the 323i (still a BMW Professional headunit though).

I see, but the standard sound system 335i comes with 10 Hi-fi speakers whereas the 323 models come with only 6 speakers am I right? I'm sure that the standard "10 speaker" sound system on the 335i isn't horrible and barely discernable from the logic 7 with an untrained ear. But of course, that is just my opnion. Anyone else wanna chime in on this issue?

Yes, I forgot - the 323i has a more basic version of the audio system.

If you love music, I STRONGLY recommend you order the Audiophile system - you won't regret it.
