Sound/Noise '07 335i 6MT

I have a noise that is not always there but I cannot define it.
It seems to go away whenever I engage the clutch.
The best way I can describe it is that it sounds like a friction sound, while not an actual grinding sound. I don't know if that is the 'clicking' sound some have referred to in the past but...
I can hear it at low speeds bouncing off of parked cars. It is not always noticeable, I'm tempted to say that there are times when it is not there.

Any ideas?
