Prepare yourself for a world of BMW Canada induced hurt.
I looked at a 535, needed, according to BMW, a heater control module, guage cluster, drl's. Sum total was about $5K and I was told I'd be last in line for everything. Parts would come from Germany etc etc. They would take care of tehir purchasing customers first so I wouldn't get an appointment until other customers needs were met, etc etc. They threw up every barrier they could think of and I finally just gave up. Others have done it succesfully though so don't take my word for it May have changed with the lawsuits against them but the best bet is to get the vin of the car you are considering and e-mail BMW Canada and ask them what needs to be done to the car to make it compliant.

www.riv.ca as well for current requirements from the gov't
I would be surprised once you factor in exchange and 6.1% duty alone if there is any benefit in the US car today, unless it is a special piece - highly modded or ultra-low km... |
