I HATE the new body style, the lines of the Door, and the ass makes me sad that BMW has destroyed such a car.

I like SOME E36's, but hate the interior.

Again the only 3's that BMW has manged to produce that I like are the E30 and E46. The new ones have a nice front end, and thats about all I can say.

That and I hate the little ass steering wheel they put in the E92s'. I miss the big ol wheel of the E30, but an E46 will do as well.

You said longer term reliability on the turbos, which means you are thinking having the car longer term. In a couple years, you are going to be left with some average run of the mill 3 series and the M3 will still be an M car. Like having an E30 M3. Old but still extremely cool.

M3 all the way... I have never driven or been in a 335i, but there is no way the 335i looks, drive, and handles like an M car. E46 M3 FTW!!!

Talking

Simple answer is go and test drive an M3 - the smile you get when you come out of your first corner will answer the question.

I just got a 2005 M3 and love it. Checked out the 135 and the 335 as well. I really felt the M3 fufilled the "driver's car" criteria more than the other two. Not to mention, the cup holders are better in the older style cars.

Exactly! But the cup holders in the 330 are the same, so I didn't bother spending the extra money on an M3.

I used to have an '05 330i. That was a fun car. My wife drives our '06 325i and the dash cup holders suck.

Was getting my e46 m3 serviced today and had a look at the 335. Frankly it seems like a more cheaply produced car, the interior has a flat dash that is uninspiring, and lots of hard plastic. Unless the doors are aluminum BMW have figured out how to make their cars feel tin canish.

The E46 will be known as a classic design and 10 years from know be one of the coveted cars. That being said the motor is a little coarse and needs to spin to really go. The ride is a bit harsh yet there is still lots of body lean, and if the motor goes it is pretty catastrophic.

Great car, how do you find a great one though.

I am about to buy me my first M3 but my 6th BMW. I never drove them before but been in them and sure abut the power. Some shops has told a friend of mine not to buy M3 cause of the trouble in the piddle shifting, is that true? And please don't be a bias because you own one. Will my wife who drove manual before be able to drive a SMG? i AM 35 and don't want to buy a 6 speed but rather an ato SMG. I myself have no problems with manual. What you guys think?

M3 all the way . . Just lost my E36 M3 got rear ended about 50 miles an hour impact while at full stop got sandwitched between an impala and a jeep suv hit another car .. total lost i was in hospital for 2 days with minor muscle strain. i was in tears when i saw my car at the wreck yard ( Now i have an E46 M3 Love it !!!) Ive seen a lot of 335 E90 is it all-wheel drive? Is BMW trying to get on win on Rally sports?? VS EVO and STI etc...

M3!! but you will miss your E90 interior(06 M3 has the best interior).Someone pointed out the years down the road the 335 will be just another 3 series where you will have Mcar.
Ive noticed E90 forums are full of enthusiastic posters ,I think M3 forums are less populated because everyone is out driving or wornout and sleeping from the Mpower excitement.

Of course M3! Even though, it has a more dated look than the new E92 coupes, it is still a looker. Plus, if you are looking for future mods, the M3 have plenty of suppliers.

Seems that you are getting mostly M3 on this section (similar to the other section going for the E92). I will be a bit more of an unbiased POV as I have neither version of the ultimate driving machine, but my recommendation means squat for addressing your wants.

I would just point out that you said you want a driver's car and that the M3 fits that requirement the best. Couple that with the last three negatives you listed on the E92 and it might become much clearer about what to choose.

Another question is, do you like to DIY some/most of the upkeep (or mods)? That will make a big difference as well.
