Getting a software upgrade
I have a 08 335i built in 11/7.

I want to get the software upgrade, pirmarily to get rid of the GPS nag each time I start the car.

However the dealers aren't fond of doing the upgrade unless a specific problem occurs and it can be demonstrated.

If anyone has any "tips" on convincing the dealer to install the upgrade, I'd sure like to hear them.

If you want to upgrade, I don't see why they are hesitant to upgrade for you. Do they have a reason for not wanting to do the upgrade for you?

I'd love to hear any tips, too.

I think printing out the SIB to demonstrate that the issue is a known and documented issue is a start ...

Any other suggestions?

sstupid question: GPS nag? you mean the warning screen that appears when you turn on the car? didn't realize bmw had a fix that would remove that, kash

From my experience, unless a problem is obvious to the SA or Tech, I think they need the BMW Field Engineer's OK to download a new PROGMAN version

The dealer gets charged for the software (and therefore you do) if it is not to fix something under warranty. You should have an iPod problem :-)

My 1/08 build e93 got a software upgrade because the gong adjustment on the radio didn't work. You may be able to get a similar upgrade if yours doesn't work.

Do you have a SIB associated with that? I'm an iPhone problem might be the thing to complain about. Mine works, but the future ex-Mrs. FastTimes iPhone won't pair -- and no she wouldn't let me take it but fix it or I don't get any honey in the BMW and thats part of the BMW lifestyle.

No SIB that I know of. I just complained about it ay my service appointment, and they talked to the field engineer, who recommended trying a software upgrade.
