2010 328i Do you think it will get an increase in HP
This is a thread for the 328i
Do you think it's possible that the 328i sedan would get a bump in hp for 2010 or do you think it will remain the same. Hasn't BMW bumped up the 328i every few yrs 10 or 15 hp just to keep it fresh every few yrs, seems like it hasn't been bumped up in a while. Will the economy prevent them from increasing it and decide to wait for the new re-design. Your thoughts? |

I don't think more HP.
But maybe direct injection, as implemented on the euro 325i since last year. Although HPFP severe issues might have them a second thought about it. |

I'm guessing the next big thing will be a diesel in a coupe for the U.S. I hope they can combine it with a manual.

More horsies would be a smart idea. 30 more would be perfect.

Not if it's a 335d. Perhaps on a 320d. My guess is that the diesel lineup for 2010 won't change in the US unless sales are just stellar.

Nope, for a couple reasons.
1. We won't get the 3,0 litre N53 motor because our sulphur content in our fuels is too high. Plus, it only makes 218PS in Europe; Europeans have no idea what a "328i with 230PS" is cuz it doesn't exist in their market. 2. It was just facelifted.......why would there be a bump in power now? I mean, the E46 from 2001-2005 didn't have any increase in power, save the introduction of ZHP. |

Sure would be nice if they would offer the ZHP/M package at around 250 HP, but I'm not holding my breath.

http://www.cianalytics.com/Environme...r%20Sulfur.pdf there are a number of DI engines out there already in the USA, sulfur hasnt stopped them. I think the reason is the ethanol in fuels, the dirty little bugaboo in US gas. When BMW introduced the 335, they stated that 8 direct engines were under development, that the whole line was going DI. Its been silent since, I suspect their experience with electric fuel pumps(vs everyone elses mechanical ones) has delayed things indefinitely. Last edited by desertdriver; 06-15-2009 at 12:15 PM. |

What would be the rationale to "bump" the 328i output when they already have a very similar 3.0 liter engine that makes 265hp? If they didn't put that 265hp 3.0 liter engine in the 328i to start with, why does ANY of you think they'll "bump" the 328i output without making similar adjustment all across the range?
Think about it.

If the 328i was meant to get more power, they would have just left the 330i in the US. lol.
