Maintenance Plan Upgrade

Did anyone else get the email from BMW about the maintenance plan upgrade ?
It's an extra two years (or 100,000 miles) on top of the four.

If you got it - How much did you pay for it ? is it worth it ?

I bought it for my 2003 525i a few years ago for $1600. Looking back I think it was worth it. Especially since that car hit 50k miles in 3 years, meaning I got 3 more years with the extended maintenance than I otherwise would have enjoyed.

Just bought the maintenance for my 2006 330xi. They wanted $1895 (looks like all the prices have gone up) but were willing to take a couple hundred bucks off when I asked.

Dude you got ripped off. Just bought the warranty for my '06 E90.

I called the dealers which other posts indicated as being good buys. That wasn't always the case. Here are my findings.

Nalley BMW in GA -- $1495 (no tax)

I would say if you are planning on keeping past the 4yr/50k mark its a no brainer (unless the price is absurd) then it's a no-brainer. Anything can and will happen and maintenance costs in those two years alone could possibly be >= to the plan cost.

As far as the "commited to enhancing..." bs, my dealership offered to me when i purchased the car. The nice thing is that you can get this extended maintenance plan anytime you want, but you cannot get the wheel and tire warranty anytime- have to do that when you purchase (at least that's how my experience was).

In the end it's your call based on how long you plan on keeping your car and how much you want to take a chance on reliability past the standard warranty/maintenance period.

Can an out of state person buy from dealers outside their state to save on the cost plus tax ?? n

The OP asked about maintaince plan. You posted about warranty. They are two different things (but thanks for posting about the warranty costs). Maintaince plan covers maintaince items (change your oil, inspection I and II, etc). Warranty plan covers things that break (water pump, a/c, etc).

That number wasn't 800 so it smells like a dealership number.

BTW - what is actually included in the plan? I know oil and wiper change - but what else?

Irvine Bmw? That's where my car is currently being fixed! I hate it there! They rip you off and... the purposely mess up your car so you bring it back within a couple days if you dont have warranty!

What happens if you have a CPO and you get this plan? Does that mean you are covered fully and have an extra 2 years of maintenance?

could be wrong, but cpo means you're covered for warranty issues for 6 yrs/100K miles (from original date). so something breaks, they fix it.
maint plan is just continuing the "free" maintenance to 6/100K -- everything except tires.
both ext maintenance and ext warranty price depends on your model (I'm pretty sure) -- ext maintence on wife's new (used) 7er was over $2K.
(all included in our sales deal, ie $XX amount for car, maintenance, clear bra, etc, etc, etc)
i forget how much it cost on the 5er five years ago; wesley your price sounds about right. kash

The prices he cited there are actually for the maintenance plan. The extended warranty prices exceed $2000.

I guess the question is, how much does mainteance cost for years 5 & 6. More than 1600? Probably not, or else they wouldnt sell it at a loss.
