Navigation Display
Is is possible to turn off the navigation display completely so that the whole screen is filled with the iDrive menus? I found I can turn it off but then have the blank black square on the right side of the display. I don't see a need to see the map or data info constantly and would only like to have it on if needed. Could not find anything in the manual.

No, not on the '06-'08s. I think the '09s can do it, but the previous generation iDrive has the two distinct left-right windows that can't be combined into one wide display.

Thanks for the reply. I decided the best option is to just turn of the iDrive display completely.

Even if you "turn off" the iDrive display on the 2006-2008s, the display's just showing a black screen - but I've noticed that the actual backlight is still on.
