I started out looking at '09 335i sedans, but my CA couldn't find the exact one I was looking for in transit. So I figured if I'm going to have to order, may as well wait half a year and go with a Summer '10 European Delivery.
But that doesn't mean I don't want a new (to me) 3 series. I figure the ideal situation is an off-demo (or any other kind of single owner) '09 335i configured with the options that I would want. So that way, I'd get a good 6 months of trial before I had to commit to purchase. Other than the obvious problems of low stock on used '09 335i models locally, the few that I've seen listed are asking pretty much the same if not a little more than I could get a new model for (~$1000 over invoice, then there is the $1260 credit for the Steptronic). Clearly, that's a starting point, but I don't think I could get interested unless I could get a used model for ~15% less than a new model with the same options. Am I being realistic for this model? Next option is to go for a 328i, but damn, I want the turbo. And most 328s seem to be former loaners, and I know how those get treated. |

$1000 over invoice currently is a fantasy dealers have. call around and be a little flexible in options. you can easily get a good deal at $250 over invoice

Exactly why I'm wondering why the used is going so high. I've let two dealers know that I'm interested in former demo/loaner 335is if they are willing to go 85% of new car pricing but they don't seem the least bit interested. Why? Yes, there is a low stock on used 335is, but I really doubt they will get close to new car pricing. I was expecting at least a counter.
