Power folding side mirrors

hi,

i have a 2004 x5 and everytime i press the folding mirror option, the side mirrors fold but they don't stay close - the mirrors will fold for a sec then go back to the open postion. is there a setting that i need to set for this option?

It means it's broken, I haven't had to deal with it for a while, but either the system doesn't believe the mirror folded properly (and needs to be reset) or something is broken in the mechanism. Just do a search on this forum. It's been covered a few times already.

oh man, just finished reading the older posts on this and it looks like it cost alot to replace them too.

My mirrors do the same, DOH!!!

I have only had the car a week (2004 X5 4.8is)

And the drivers seat heater burnt my but off nearly, got a quote, about $2,200 for just one base seat cover (the heater element is built into the leather cover), and $300 for the seat foam.

And yesterday the check engine yellow light in bottom left came on, damn....

Geez, I love the car but not so sure now. I should have read the forums first.....

Anyway,
My background is previously electronics (technician by trade), so I am gunna have a look at the mirrors, i will do a post on it if i solve the problem with some photos of what i find.
