'05 3.0 X5 Starting Problem?

i ahve a 2005 X5 3.0 with 55K miles. Recently is it having trouble turning over. Does not always start when the key is turned. Most times it starts second attempt when you hold the key for a couple seconds. Different from the immediate turnover like usual. Starter seems ok. Any ideas what this could be?

msw, make sure that your battery contacts are clean and tight. Living up there in all that rain might make them a little iffy :-)!
