Question 2009 X5d Extended Warranty Pricing?

Hi All,

Again, many thanks to your responses on my tire and general price inquiries!!!

One last question for everyone -- what should the price range be for the BMW Extended Warranty (not maintenance, just warranty) on a 2009 X5 Diesel? The dealership is quoting me around $4,000 for total coverage of 7yrs/70,000 miles -- and again that would be BMW coverage not a third party.

I plan on holding onto the vehicle for a while, so, wanted to get everyones' thoughts on what the pricing should be for the warranty.

Thank you...

I was quoted 3995.00 when I took delivery. I'm going to wait until my warranty is about to expire. No reason to let them hold your money early...

Thanks

Thanks Craig, looks like my dealer is quoting something reasonable then.

You're welcome... It doesn't hurt to shop around for a cheaper price...

It doesn't matter what dealer you purchase the warranty from.

One person replies and you decide that is reasonable???

I was NOT aware that "BMW" offers a 70k mile warranty.... So you are paying $4k for an extra 5 years and 20k miles????

make sure you READ what they give you- DO NOT LISTEN to what they say...

Hi Ard -- you're right, I should not base my decision on just one reply. In fact I'm pretty new to the boards and this will be my first BMW (though this board has influenced my decision greatly).

Basically, they're offering an extra 3 years (7yrs instead of base 4) and 20,000 miles for $4k -- again, this is BMW (not third party) and is warranty only (maintenance for the extension of 3yrs not included).

So, I'm debating first whether that is a good price, and, second on whether or not I should buy it now or later towards the end of the original warranty period.

Again, I have never heard of a BMW warranty such as the one you describe.

I may be wrong, but I suspect you will discover it is an aftermarket warranty 'private label distributed' by this BMW dealer. They are lying to you, and figure you'll just bend over and not realize the difference.

It is a total rip off, BMW or not.

No matter what GET THE POLICY TO REVIEW before buying. DO NOT TRUST a dealer jsut because the sign says BMW!

if BMW really offers a 7yr/70 I am sure someone will correct me....
