BMW Warranty Coverage?
I have the 2007 X3 CPO, with 35k on it. The service guy said that I need a wheel alignment. $290 The wear looked fine to me..$$$ And that I should get a injector cleaning $320. No lag, and have use premium in the car since I got it.
BMW touts that there they have no service costs for the first 4 years, hence why they are head and tails above the rest. Got that same line when I was buying the car too. So whats the warranty not cover if it's 50k or 4 years everything other then windshield wipers and tires are covered under maintenance. Wouldn't alignment and injector cleanings be a "maintenance" category for any kind of car, that does not wear out like tires do?

So if nothing is wrong, they just trying to make a quick buck off you. BMW dealers should not try to sell any additional "services" since the scheduled visits take care of all you need. |

Get the wheel alignment when you get new tires....unless the tires are really wearing unevenly on the outsides or insides. Does the car pull to one side?
I was also quoted 295 bucks, and had the local tire shop that installed our new tires do the alignment....4 wheel, for 79 bucks! Don't feel as if you have to let BMW do everything. I wouldn't bother with fuel injector cleaning if the car is driving fine.

I agree with you completely Bill97Z. When service told me that I should do those things, I said I have a mechanic checks everything for me first. The tires seem to be ok. With 35k, I probably have to get some in 10k to 15k anyway. The real problem was/is the rear end, making a pretty good whine!! I remember that noise from my Jeep days. Jeeps are really bad on differentials. Also the 07 tranny was sluggish, and lurching when slowing. I know all that was under warranty.
You guys are on the mark. Dealers can be helpful, but they are there to make money, not help for free.... They are nice, as long as it benefits them...lol

Alignments are the same way. Not scheduled. If you drive over pot holes you pay for alignments. Tires, alignments, cleanings of any kind, excessive wear and abuse are not covered. Wiper blades are included however.

I understand that if you go off road and jump the car, you're asking for it. Yet, the brakes and rotors are changed if they show normal wear, and one would think if you were a hard braker, that they would cover that also. I heard about the wipers blades, but they will cover the inserts...that's got to just make you scratch your head.
