The Slingshot factor (part two)

Original post is at:

As mentioned no more side to side checks.

Purchased some OBDII software,

http://obd-2.com/

and a Dell 8500 Notebook.

Turns out that John Firestone's main controller (ZZKE) has a data out mode. Speed, RPM and miles versus time. I'm using tera-term to access this.

http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002416/teraterm.html

Tried it Tuesday, checking just RPM, using John's and the OBDII stuff which agreed. The tachometer indication is off on the coupe.
TACH OBD ZZKE
2K 2280 2270
3K 3205 3200
3.5K 3685 3700
4K 4085 4070
4.5K 4605 4600
5K ---- 5070
5.5K ---- 5600
Checked the tachometer in my 318ti today and it is off too, but not as much. It doesn't have one of John's controllers.
TACH OBD ZZKE
1.5K 1535 NA
2K 2011
3K 2990
4K 3918
5K 4870
5.5K 5395
6K 5847

Yesterday I did some accels in 3rd, 4th and 2nd gear in sport mode and out of sport mode. The 3rd gear runs are shown in the following pic. They were done either flat or slightly up hill. Tough finding flat runs in CT.

John just sent me some times from the 3rd gear runs. Will post the 60 -> 90 times tomorrow along with the 4th and 2nd gear runs. More checks and data to come.
The 5500 -> 7300 rpm (67.6 mph -> 89.9 mph) times for the curves between 130 and 290 s are:
3.3 s
3.3 s
3.6 s
3.3 s
3.4 s
3.5 s

Ron,

"Checked the tachometer in my 318ti today and it is off too, but not as much."

Those numbers sound pretty close to what I've seen in my car too. I'm pretty sure my tach reads higher then actual.

If you still have it you could use your old shift light as a comparison point against OBDII/tach in the 318ti.

Shawn

Still have it somewhere
I've got other things (HC stuff plus) that I should be doing but this data stuff just went to priority one for a day or two or three. John's interested too, so we should end up with some interesting stuff.
P.S. TP on the coupe with the engine running is there if you push down the pedal enough (car not in motion). Will do some car off TP checks tomorrow just to see how it compares with what we did pre Conforti.

Question

At the end of my initial post there are two graphs. I added the second one because I couldn't open the first.
Am I the only one that can not open the first one?
Thanks,
Ron

Ron,

What octane fuel do you run the S54 for the tests.

Cheers

First run 60 to 90 slingshot times. Will do some controlled checks (same piece of road mainly) soon.

"For your runs between 160 and 300 s: 4.6, 4.3, 4.8, 4.5, and 4.6 s."
