Might have something to do with the rearmost differential mount failing (though the pictures I can recall seeing showed metal fatigue induced stress cracks and not pulled out spot welds...).
Interesting post nonetheless, thanks Max. I continue to monitor the condition of my rearend (for obvious reasons...). Oh yeah, I frequently look under the car's rearend too! Not that our documented 475 autocross runs with "jack rabbit" launches has anything to do with it
