E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

Bumper Swap

Found a fairly mint set of front and rear from a 91' at the yard. Thinking of scoring them and replacing my DB's. Is there any welding involved ? Has anyone posted a write up on the replacement process ? Searched a bit but didnt find a tutorial.
Thanks

no welding at all. the front is a direct bolt on as ong as you have the plastic bumpers shocks and all the bits. the rear will ave to shorten and do some body work tomake it fit the shorter early model rear end.

Thanks Steve, yeah i got the early model rear end. I think i will run down and get em today. Man, i can't believe how many vehicles are in the yard now after the cash for clunkers deal. Unfortunately, there aren't to many E30 right now.

Ditto, although there are a ton of E30s in my local yards. Sadly most are stripped out within a day or 2.

that scheme sounds stupid to me.. its just going to make the diehard fans of thier cars keep them on the road for longer becaasue parts prices are going to drop due to supply. we in NZ had a scheme like that but it was set up just before the elections, but then that government got voted out and it was scrapped. really was pointless.

interesting to know about the difference in the rear end between facelift and prefacelift rear ends. didnt know they were different. that probably explains why my rear bumper sticks out 10mm or so more than usual when the towbar is on (OEM for E30.. but was off a prefacelift, htough it does say up till 91 on the sticker on it...)
