E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

Mein Auto: 1993 318 is E30 ?
What is my car?

I live in Vicenza Italy, I'm stationed here for three years. I've purchased two BMW's so far one I believe is rare. Its a 1993 318 is. It's a 2dr coupe, it has the four wheel disks brakes, the central locking system, and the all aluminumn block. The ignition system is totaly electronic. I believe the engine is a 1.8 liter and it reads BMW across the top of the spark plugs cover, plugs go in strait through the top of the cylinder head. It has no air conditioning, power windows, sun roof (Steel, no glass with manual crank) and the interior is cloth with the flannel looking gray pattern. Is it an E30, better yet is it an E30 cabriolet? Italian specs. Any help is greatly appriciated. I plan on shiping the car back to the states. Thanks!

You have an E36 chassis, not an E30

Chassis

Thanks for the reply, the car is defiantly the E-30 design, I'll post a couple of pictures if it helps identify it.

Thanks again,

Jeremiah

iS is knicknamed the Baby M3 because thats essentially what it is. not all iS's have sport seats though. they were produced in 92, not 93. was probably registered as a 93 as that was its first year of registration. the plate on the B-pillar should say 92

I thought 1991 was the last year for the iS? maybe it's another one of of those random Italian only models. Keen for VIN decode...

ive seen 92 models here, but that may be a case of that was the year it was registered, though NZ is usually really good on getting the correct year of manufacture.

1991 was definitely the last year the E30 318is was manufactured. It actually says at the top of the forum that the cabriolet was the only make that was continued until 1993.

so are the last 7 digits of your VIN AD21912?

If AD21912 is correct then it is was manufactured in 06/1990.

If not, plug the last 7 digits into realoem.com

Hope this helps.
