Sounds like the Crankcase Ventilation Valve a.k.a. oil separator.

There are a few hoses that come off the valve that connect into the base of the dipstick tube and into the lower part of the intake manifold.

Could be a crack in one of those hoses, or the valve itself.

Short trips in colder climates without good highway runs can be a contributory factor.

Differential or transfer case leak would be more to the middle and further back.

Hopefully you are still under 50K miles for a straightforward warranty fix.

I have no particular experience with this, but I would be checking power steering fluid and brake fluid levels, as well as engine oil level. I suppose the trannny, if auto, has an oil cooler in or near the radiator, but I don't know how to check oil level for it. Antifreeze can seem like oil so it can also be suspect. If you are not a DIY type of person I suggest you take it to a competent mechanic, or the dealer if it's still on warranty. You're going to be there anyway, to get it fixed, right? :-)

If it's an extremely clear liquid similar to water it could be your motor mount. Have you noticed an increase in vibration through the car or the steering wheel?

Remember you have the skid plate down there, so oil will drip and flow down the skid plate to the floor, so impossible to locate with the plate in place. As adviced before, check all your fluids, but motor oil smell and consistency it's easy to detect. I you want, remove the skid plate and do a visual check, but everything is so tight in there that you probably won't be able to see where is coming from. Even to check the oil separator valve or hoses you need at least two hours to remove the necessary parts in order to "see it".

Had a similar issue. When did you get a oil change? After I got an oil change my x3 was fine for 2 months and started to leak oil around the same area as you are talking about. Check to see if any oil is leaking around the filter. Could be your oil filter ring is messed up and leaking oil.

Get it in and have it checked out, it won't get better. If you are still under warranty the dealer should fix this for you. Even if you are just out you might be eligible for a "goodwill" repair and I would certainly try for that before any DIY repair. Good luck and let us know what you found.
